w126 1988 300sel Spark Plugs/Wires
Purchased Bosch Spark Plug Wires (Item#09146).
I removed plug wires with 00015654. There was a Mercedes Benz symbol above such number. There was also a second longer number 0356301028 stamped on the metal boot. I purchased a replacement set of Bosch wires with a stamped number 000155654. My question is the following: Are these the right spark plug wires for my 1988 300sel w126? If so I need to also get spark plugs Currently I'm using Bosch Super plugs(item#7978) The old plug I was using was by Bosch Super HR9DC stamped on the metal part and on the ceramic part there was R6 591 stamped on it. What are the best spark plugs to use for my 300sel car? What are the best spark plug WIRES for this car? Please advise |

I use the 09146 wireset on my 300SEL and either NGK TR5 plugs or Bosch HR9DC...both seem to work fine. Car just rolled 300,000 miles so I must be doing something correct.
![]() Seeing how this car turns right around 3000rpm @ 60mph, you should consider replacing the cap and rotor while in there. Probably your fan belt too while inspecting the idler pulleys. Valve cover gaskets do not seem to last too long for me either. Keep us posted on your decision.
