190e Cam Help!!!
I have pulled the head on my 1985 190e 2.3 to replace the head gasket. Since my compresion was a tad low, I deciced to put in new valve guides & seals. I removed the camshaft, only to find minor scoring on the bearing surfaces. What do I do about this? Can these be machined? I cannot find a listing for camshaft bearings.. looks like they are not available. Please.. anyone... help! I am waiting to install al the new parts. Thanks for any help.

Call the dealer to see if the camshaft bearings are available. If there are bearings they are available. You can almost always get Mercedes parts that are needed.

The head is the cam bearings!! Small scratches won't have any effect. MB at one time offered a cam with LARGER bearing surfaces & then you would have the HEAD line bored.

Don't worry about it. Since repair will require everything. Leave it alone. It it fails (it won't) the only thing you loose is the labor.

Thanks guys. I was panicked because I am planning to re-assemble everything this weekend. I will take Steve's advice and NOT worry about it for now. Atleast my compression will be back to pretty close to normal. :)
