I am planning to replace the coolant in my '83 300SD and flush out the system. What is the correct type of coolant to use in this systme? There are so many choices, such as phospate free, regular ethylene glycol, etc. Please recommend a specific type. THANKS

Use Mercedes-Benz antifreeze, availible at your dealer, or independant.

The O.E. coolant has the longest life of any coolant I know of. Mix it 50/50 with water before pouring it in.

MERCEDES BENZ DEALERS "CAN" SELL TWO(2) DIFFERENT TYPES OF COOLING SYSTEM FLUSHES. YOU SHOULD FLUSH THE SYSTEM BEFORE CHANGING THE COOLANT. ASK FOR A CITRIC ACID FLUSH FROM YOUR LOCAL DEALER, IF THEY ARE "GOOD" IT WILL BE IN STOCK. GOOD LUCK!
