2005 c230 Kompressor = Crank no Start

Have been working on this issue for the last 9 days now.
2005 c230 Kompressor

Car started to idle rough and kept shutting off. Than cranks and does not Start.
Mechanic and I started to try to figure out what is going on.

We put odb2 scanner in and read the codes as camshaft and misfire

We than removed the valve cover took out the coils and noticed there was oil leaking into the sparks 1, 2

Ordered new sparks, replaced gaskets, cleaned and check coils that were producing spark.

Tried to start car. Still cranks no start

We than ordered two cam adjuster magnets and replaced them. Still crank no start

After doing more research we than ordered and replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor.

We hooked up back the odb2 and all codes and faults were gone except the overhead control which is the sunroof.

Still crank no start

Check fuel pressure.

So after charging the battery and checking both the fuel pump and sensor under the back seat. We tried to crank it and nothing. There is no compression. We are now hearing a little ratting coming from the front of the engine which now looks like its the timing chain which we did not hear before

Time for a new engine? I as told if I change just the timing chain there is a risk of valves or anything in the engine being destroyed

No compression on any cylinder? Seems very odd, how was it tested?

If there is no compression it would mean something was very wrong internally and it would most likely not be rotating freely.

How many miles on the engine?

215,000km

You need to take the head off and replace at least the intake valves that are bent. Your timing chain jumped a tooth and had it been correctly diagnosed at the beginning it would have saved you a lot of money. M271 engines are notorious for they're timing chain problems. Here is what you need: timing chain, all the chain sprockets (they wear down), timing chain tensioner, all the valves that are bent, new head gasket, new valve gasket, thick wallet and a new car (with something else than an M271)

Interesting (and unfortunate). I didn't know the M271 was such a dog on the timing chain. But, it sounds like it can be significantly out of time without causing damage:

I know this might sound a little weird but when the car died I smell like a burning smell for 5 secs. Would it also be the ecu or any of the relay fuses? and if so which exact relay fuse would it be?

Sorry Im just trying anything I can to get this up and running again.
I have my buddy going to take another look at timing chain tonight and manually try to spin the engine

Question

How long have you owned the car? What the other members have noted about the M271 engine is, unfortunately true....not just opinions.

Hey everyone so just to give you all an update. Popped off the cover and noticed that timing is not lined up at all. Left sprocket has moved one to the left. Right sprocket has moved twice to the right
