Gray Market 1985 190e 4 Spd

Well...my 300E needs a new engine at this point, along with a lot of other TLC. So I picked up this 1985 190E today for $1500 as basic transportation.

Brought over from Germany at some point in the late 90's. Super clean, save a few rust spots. New tires, radiator, and alternator recently. Interior looks new for the most part. That cloth holds up really well! 4spd manual transmission. Roughly 150KM on the clock. About the only thing I can see it needing currently is a new wiper blade. I couldn't be happier. :D

Euro interior and crank windows. I am jealous.

What kind of mpg does it get?

OrangeGuy 12-14-2014 09:35 PM

Well it's got the M102.962...which is the 2.0L. I'm hoping for at least 30MPG combined. Only driven it approximately 60 miles so far ;)

Nice find. I would love a low spec Euro W201.

Damn Nice Car

Do you like the cloth seats?

KJB 12-16-2014 06:17 AM

Nice car😄 but is it a four speed? As I see the gear shift, it looks like a manual, which should have 5 gears. Or am I wrong at some point??

And I read something about 'European interior', what's the difference between American and European interior?
Reason why I ask? I'm Dutch 😁

In the U.S. market we didn't get cloth interiors. I believe the U.S. version has wood dash trim also.

The 4-spd manual transmission was a standard equipment. The 5-spd manual trans was an option.

My 2.0L 1990 with a 5speed gets 30-31 highway. So 30+ combined without an overdrive is optimistic.

The 2.0L isn't really any more efficient than the 2.3.

Very cool car!

Ah yes, of course. I was confused with automatic transmission. And as far as I know we don't have much cars in Europe with four speed manual transmission.

That's good to know, I'm really a driver of diesel cars but maybe I want to look for a 190 2.3 or a 190 2.6.
