Hi,

Thanks for your reply.
Being a 'rookie' in a mercedes, can you also tell me what is this SLS Hydraulic for, what does it do? and what should I fill it with....

Many thanks in advance,

regards,
swib

SLS is the Self Leveling Suspension, and that bottle is the resevoir for the suspension fluid. Be sure to use only the MB Hydraulic fluid for leveling systems as anything other may cause damage to a very expensive pump or other suspension parts (struts and accumulators).

Judging from the picture it appears the system is at the proper level of fluid, or mighty darn close.

swib,

Under the black rubber cap is a dip stick that you use to measure the fluid level. From my experience the level in your system is fine. I have changed my fluid a few times in the 200,000 miles I have run it, and there is a filter in the bottom of the plastic bottle you can change too. I bought a couple quarts of the the fluid, and aimed the return line to a 2 liter coke bottle, turned the car on, and then added new, clean stuff as the level dropped in the plastic bottle. I stopped when the stuff coming back from the system was nice and clear, like the new oil I was pouring in. Then I adjusted the level to the max mark on the dipstick and all was well. Hope this helps, Jim
