HID Fitted. Bulb out warning. How do you defeat ?

A friend of mine has fitted a HID set into his 2000 E320.

He now has the "Bulb Out" warning come up all the time.

I read somewhere that the dealer can reset the "Chip" to a Xneon headlamp setting to cure this.

His dealer deny's all knowledge of this.

Anyone help.
