1992 190E, trying to replace ignition tumbler, pins in, tumbler won't come out

My tumbler started acting up in the last times I drove the car so I did the smart thing and ordered a new one. I made the pin tool thing with a coathanger that I ground down to about 1.8-2mm. Now I can stick the pins inside the tumbler, I can feel the pawl unlock, but when I try to pull the tumbler out it comes out about 1mm and jams there. Then, if I remove the pins and push back on the tumbler just a little bit, I can hear and feel it click back in place. I've been trying to remove this part all afternoon.

Now I'm scared that if I remove the key I might not ever be able to turn it again... Help!?

I remember I couldn't believe how hard I had to push the pins in. Gloves helped.

I thought about that, then I measured how far the pins went in compared to the new tumbler and they went way past the clip. Also, what is the use for the lower pin? Looks like it isn't useful since there is nothing to push on the tumbler?

Did you cut a 45 degree angle ?

Into the ends of the Pins?

(Ignore the little pins in the picture.)

I bought a Kit ["Baum" tools] (AKA Alkyracer) years ago that had the Ignition tools in it.

The Tool(s) measure 1.94 to 1.95mm O.D.with the Digital Caliper.

FSM wants you to remove "Escutcheon"

I got it out today. I made a new pin and I made sure the diameter was exactly 2 mm. The tumbler popped out on the first try.

Good deal! The tool I used looked like a giant pair of tweezers with angled ends. A padded glove kept it from digging into my hand.
