Emergency assistance requested concerning 560SEL acorn bolt removal.

OK, located a very nice hose pliar clamp set at the NAPA automotive parts store, NAPA part number SER 3588 $29.99 specifically designed to clamp off hoses. The sizes are 1/8" to 5/16", 1/2" TO 3/4" and 3/4" TO 2 1/4". They beat the daylights out of using thin vice grips to try and clamp off a fuel line. I used the 1/2 to 3/4" size clamp pliar on the fuel line coming from the fuel tank to the fuel pump, it worked like a charm!!! Yes!!!

Now for the real work. I tried to loosen the outer 17mm acorn nut (gold in color) from the banjo fiting on the right of the rear most fuel pump. It seemed to be stuck so I sprayed come PCB blaster to loosen it up. Waited ten minutes then sprayed it again with the PCB blaster. I am using a second 17mm open end wrench as back up on the inner 17mm nut (silver in color, copper crush washers on either side) while simultaenously attempting to loosen the outermost acorn 17mm nut (the nut on the outside of the banjo fitting) using a 17mm box wrench.

The outer gold color 17mm nut next to the banjo hose fitting seems to be really stuck! Can I use a 17mm flare nut wrench and bang on it with a hammer or try and use a breaker bar? Since the fuel pumps and fuel filter are somewhat movable, I certainly don't want to break anything.

Ideas and input are appreaciated.

Try putting the wrenches at a 45° angle from each other < and squeeze them with one hand.....you get better leverage this way.

Should I use a 17mm flare wrench on the outter 17mm acorn nut (the nut out the outside of the banjo fitting) or just a plain 17mm box end wrench?

My basic understanding is that a flare nut wrench is for applications where you would really like to have a box end wrench but can't, because a pipe or tube is in the way of progress.

Use the 17mm socket on the outer cap/nut and use a regular 17mm wrench on the inner nut.
