I have a '98 SLK230. I had driven cars with Xenon HID lights and love them. The SLK
does not come with HID lamps, but I saw conversion kits for $1000 or so. I was ready to buy one of these kits but then I read that the lens on the outside of the car is made for the current bulb, and replacing it with a different bulb would screw up the beam pattern...even if the new bulb were .025" off. There is a $ back gaurantee on the HID kits. Can anyone give me advice??? These kits are the same balasts and HID lamps as the factory would install; I'm more worried about the beam pattern.

I have never seen a completely successful conversion on a mercedes. The mercedes option is a several thousand dollar option for the Xenon bulbs. This is because it has a controlling unit, ballast, bulbs and auto-leveling device. This is more than the scope of most aftermarket units. If anyone has seen a truly successful(matching OEM specs and functionality) conversion then let us know.

I saw this website and with the HID aftermarket kit. We have no firsthand experience with the kit but if your set on HID's for your SLK they should be able to help you. Best of Luck...Lee
