1995 E300 D - Windshield Wiper Transmission Renewal
1995 E300 D (124.131) - wiper transmission has failed, warranting its renewal. These vehicles came from the factory equipped with either Bosch or SWF transmissions, linkages and motors. A new Bosch transmission (124 820 25 07) is $970 from the dealer, where as the total price for a new SWF transmission, linkage and motor totals $880 ($585, $45, & $250).
Any reason not to go with the installation of all new SWF components? The parts would have to come from Germany but with SWF the total price would be $90 less than the Bosch transmission only and all of the wiper components would be new. Replacing all of the Bosch components would total $1,402. Thanks. |

Comparing the SWF with the Bosch I got the impression the Bosch version for the W201 was better built. If you want pictures of my W201 wiper gear mechanism they're somewhere in the W201.018 thread listed in my signature (I can dig them out if you want). |
FYI for anyone interested... successfully overhauled the wiper system using SWF components, without any problem. No modifications were required.

Yikes! I hope your car is mint - to spend that kind of money on a wiper is quite "expansive". When my wiper got tired and lubing it stopped working I got a complete motor and trans out of a boneyard for $100. Been going many years on the "new" used one now.
