"I WAS WONDERING" WHEN I DRIVE MY CAR IN THE STREET I ALMOST ALWAYS STAY IN 3RD GEAR-unless i go above 60MPH, AND WHEN IM IN THE HIGHWAY I ALWAYS STAY IN 4TH GEAR-unless i go above 80-85MPH.>>>>PUTTING THEM IN ANY SOONER SEEMS "TO SOON".--WILL DOING THIS DAMAGE ANYTHING IN MY TRANS...OR ENGINE...+ >>> I USUALLY DOWN SHIFT TO SLOW DOWN.( AM I DOING WRONG) ! im refering to regular driving not fast driving......

The powerband on a 2.3 16 is in the upper rpm's. It sounds like you enjoy the "instant power" feeling that those rpm's would provide. You shouldn't hurt anything by running high rpms for extended time. Just make sure your shifting technique is correct. As for downshifting to slow down...that is what brakes were made for unless your in the mountains.
