Changing Tranny Oil in 6spd '02 C230

I would like to change the transmission oil for my '02 C230 6 speed. I want to change over to synthetic. However, I am unsure of what to use. I know in my older manual cars, it was brake fluid. Also, can I just use my topsider to suction out the fluid and then replace it with what is needed. Is there any bleeding necessary. Additionally, I have read several post stating better shifing after having the tranny oil changed. Has anyone else had this done. if so, what oil did you use, and have you experienced smoother shifting.
