190e jerking.
Hi, im a proud owner of an 190e 1.8 automatic, and i need some help!
At normal driving, the car jerks, kind of chases the rpms. A friend of mine changes the plugs and fuelfilter, but that did not help. When the plugs got changed, he mentioned they were a bit dry. Could this have anything to do with the jerking, the car might not get enough fuel? If so, is there a way i could manually adjust this? |
Change fuel filter and see if that helps.

Mine started doing that, mostly at low RPM's. It turned out to be a cracked distributor cap. The last time I changed it, several years earlier, I didn't take the old O ring out and ended up with two. I guess the gap was too big.
Cracked/old/worn caps and rotors can do strange things. |
I have the same problem with my 90' 420sel but it is only when the engine is warming up. It starts doing that around 60 degrees and stops right before it gets to operating temperature.

Fuelfilter has been changed, transmission oil and oilfilter will be changed by the end of the week. If this doesn't do the job, i suspect a vacuum leak. Could that be right?
Distributor and rotor has been changed from what my friend who works in a shop. So we'll have to keep hunting for the problem :) Thanks for the answers! Much appreciated! |
i just realized i've made a complete ass of my self.
I filled about 400ml of ATF dx3 in the transmission, now it shifts better! and the jerking is all gone! But oil and oilfilter will be done shortly! Thanks for answers! |
