1971 280 se engine removal

Longtime Porsche Pelican, but new to Peach.

I am removing an engine on a 1971 280 se that someone else started. The engine is currently on a picker and is separating from the bell housing. It seems the torque converter is coming with the engine? Is this correct, or does something else need removed?

It looks as though he tried to disconnect the driveline, but was unable to remove it from the transmission. Where is the correct junction / method for removing the driveline?

Thanks in advance.

There is a rubber/fabric coupling device called a "flexdisc" between the three-legged output flange of the trans, and the corresponding three-legged flange of the drive-line. One set of three bolts/nuts can be removed to separate the trans from the drive-line.

Engine removal usually occurs in one of two ways:

1) The drive-line is separated from the trans, and the trans with torque convertor (unbolt convertor from flexplate) is first removed from the car. The engine is then lifted from the car.

2) Drive-line is separated; engine and trans are lifted as a unit. This method requires considerable tilting of the engine/trans package.
