Needing driveshaft for a 1985 Mercedes 300cd?

Hello, this is my first post but I really enjoy all the informative information on here. I removed my driveshaft before knowing that is was factory balanced and cannot for the life of me get it back together right. So I'm just going to replace the driveshaft and need to know if there are any sites online that are recommended? I don't have any local shops that I can find so I'm guessing my only option is a remanufactured online driveshaft. I live in Eastern,Ky so if anyone knows somehere close that sells them or online I would greatly appreciate the info. 1985 300cd
Thanks, Kelly
I think I may have posted this earlier in the wrong forum so sorry for the confusion.

Actually, Diesel Discussion is where you want to put questions about diesels. This Tech Help section is for gasoline-powered 'Benzes. I realize that the forum titles are a bit confusing.

Anyway, the link for Diesel Discussion, again:

As for your question, I would think that you could have a shop rebalance the driveshaft for you. However, you'd probably want to weigh the cost of balancing vs. refurbishing vs. replacing with a rebuilt/new driveshaft.

o2:

What are the symptoms that suggest to you that the shaft is mis-assembled?

By 1985 the shaft pieces that form the slip joint usually had match marks (points or arrows) forged into them. Through cleaning of the parts will often help to reveal them.

We separated it and it does have alignment marks and I followed them but it now has a vibration above 45. I've replaced the discs and support bearing and it has 197000 miles on it. It never had vibrating before shaft being separated.

Out of curiosity, what job were you doing that caused you to remove the driveshaft? Is it possible that something else is causing the vibration? Have you touched the flywheel, for example?

If it is the driveshaft, I would definitely look and see if you can find a shop to balance it, since you've already put in a new carrier bearing.

Ok, thanks

It was running smooth but I kept hearing somthing loose. Turned out to be a motor mount but during the process my buddy loosened up the driveline and removed the back part of driveline. Vibrated ever since and never did before.
