installing new copper crush washers on fuel pump/filter assembly - torque specs?

On the 1991 560SEL, I am installing a new check valve plus new copper crush washers on every fitting of the fuel pump/filter assembly. The check valve screws into the fuel pump, what spec should I torque it to? Then, what torque spec should the 17mm acorn end nuts be? Thank you for your input......

Bumpety bump, I'm really needing to know the torque specifications for these copper crush washers if anyone has access to the factory service manual for W126 cars. Anyone?

Hi,

there are no Torque values for this job in the service manual. I have checked this for R 107, C 124 und for the W126

Best regards from Germany
Marcel

Thank you for the reply. I'm assuming I should tighten the 17mm bolts "good-n-tight" and reinstall the pump/filter assembly on the car?

Just make sure you use new washers and inspect the washers real good before installation. I actually tightened a few too tight which cause the copper washers to develop a crack and cause fuel leaks.

Thank you for the advice; I will be careful not to over tighten. This entire ordeal has given me Excedrin Headache #57 (tired of lying on back looking at the underside of an automobile while straining to position work light so that I can see the problem and then attempt to figure it out).

For $10 or so ... you can get an LED spotlight which takes all the light issue away from changing the fuel filter. Came in great on my 89 300E.
The nuts should be free.
