95 E420 Not shifting right after kickdown..
Hi guys,
I have a 95 E420 which won't upshift correctly after a kickdown from a dead stop. From a dead stop after a kickdown the car will remain in 1st and once it reaches 5K rpm it will behave as if a rev. limiter was kicking in, (500 below the redline?). Once this is happening if I tap the pedal lightly then it shifts to second and continues shifting well but a little brisk at times. Could this be the Kickdown Solenoid? Vacuum leak I can't find and why does it feel like a rev. limiter is kicking in at only 5K rpm? Thanks for any tips.

The kickdown switch is sticking.

Would that be the switch directly below the gas pedal or the upshift delay mechanism towards the back of the AT..?

Both.
The switch under the pedal sticks sometimes, unplug it to see if the symptom vanishes.
