Thankfully Amazon customer service is probably the best in the business (at least by my experience) though I'd rather have no issues at all

This morning I received my replacement from Amazon. As before, it was not shipped in a box or had any protection, and had a decent size dent in the body of the muffler along the seam. If I had the choice, I would have refused the delivery but I wasn't awake when they left it at the door.

Going to see if I can send this back and get a full refund. This is ridiculous.
I may try the Walker direct fit (but wouldn't have high hopes on quality) or pony up for the dealer prices. I don't get why it is so hard to protect items in shipment.

I had my mechanic listen to it but he wasn't sure if the muffler was damaged in shipping or it just sounded like that because it was poorly manufactured. It sounds like the exhaust is leaking almost, or that the exhaust gases are getting somewhere they shouldn't be. Maybe like a baffle is loose or split. The drone is pretty bad, especially outside the car.

Amazon refunded my money and is taking the muffler down until they can revise the shipping procedure. I have to send back both mufflers so they can inspect the damage, so I am given 30 days to do so. They'll tell me when the item is available again and allow me to purchase it again.

********* has the OE stuff, priced around $200 shipped versus the $190 shipped from Amazon... well at least for my W124 which needs an exhaust too.

Guess that place cannot be mentioned... but Amazon can. Makes sense to me!

i really have to hand it to these mennonite guys near me that opened up a custom exhaust shop (called custom exhaust shop).....twice i went to the exhaust chain store that is way closer to me only to have manager turn me around before i had the words out of my mouth....."we can't even do that. blah blah blah"; took the same issues to these other guys who fixed it for under $100 each time. having a selection of good specialty shops is invaluable
