W124 M104 Motor Mount Part Number Info Needed

I have a 1993 W124, 2.8L M104. the other day i ordered a couple of motor mounts from my local parts guy. i used the pelican parts online catalog to find the MB part number of my motor mounts, which is : 124-240-19-17

they finally arrived today. i went in to pick them up, however, the part number is not the same, but instead it reads: 201 240 4317 . i brought this part number discrepancy to the attention of my parts guy, and he assured me that although the part numbers are not the same, the part number : 201 240 4317 = 124 240 1917 .

i planned on installing them tomorrow, but before i do so, i wanted to ask the forum for advice. Can i/ should i install the mounts he sold me or not?

any advice/opinions would be much appreciated.

As time marches on, a lot of parts become consolidated / superseded even at the factory dealer level. It becomes impossible and not cost effective to maintain support for minor variations in otherwise similar parts. The variation could be in stiffness / valving of the hydraulic mount or just an improved mount that replaced the old #.

When I changed the mounts on my 97 SL320 the part # was different than OE but fit was the same. I ordered a 2nd set for another car and the # was different still.

I changed mounts on Moms 97 C280 but I don't recall if the # were different.

If the mounts look the same on the outside, they should work fine.

FOLLOW UP

i eventually got around to replacing my motor mounts, and found that my old, worn out mounts had the same part number(201 240 4317 ) as my new Lemforder motor mounts.

So, to sum up: 124 240 1917 = 201 240 4317

Actually 124 240 1917 < 201 240 4317 :-D

The mounts make a huge difference when the car is at idle. I couldn't believe it myself. I did the trans at the same time but I really don't thinking needed it honestly.
