1990 300E door open, no interior light
OK, someone has had this problem, please share what you did to solve it.
When the passenger door is opened, the overhead interior light comes on. It doesn't when the driver's side door is opened. I checked the door plunger switch by swapping it with the passenger side and the door switch works. With the key in the ignition, when I open the driver's door, the buzzer sounds so a signal from the door switch is being recognized. This would seem to indicate that there is nothing wrong with the wiring at comes from the door itself to the car since the door switch is not part of the door. I've already swapped over-head lights, with no change. Before I take things apart to trace the wiring from the over-head lights to the door switch... what have you done to fix yours? (I have the same problem with my 1991 300SL so this has got to be a common problem for cars of this age.) Thanks.

You're saying the door jamb switch from the driver side works in the passenger side jamb? Did you try putting a jumper across the wires for the driver side door switch to check the wiring?
