W201 2.5-15 SLS suspension question
Hi guys,
Got all new hydraulic dampers on the car. However the rear passenger side sits a couple of cm's lower than the other side - both when the car is set high or low. No leaks to observe - could it be the sphere? Thanks, Christian |

I don't think its the spheres. My guess would be the rubber caps or what ever they call it. The things that are on top of the springs. I would guess that it might be worn out. If I recall, the spheres are in an open loop. I do not think they are valved off from each other so the fluid flows freely between the two sides.

The caps David is referring to are "spring pads" and you should check if, for some odd reason, they are not the same. They are identified by the number of "bumps" that are molded onto the lower edges of the pads so that they are visible with the coil springs still in place.
If you haven't already, consider swapping the dampers to see if the height difference is specific to the damper. |

In addition to the spring pad types, also check that the low side pad has not split/crushed.
Also check that the sway bar is not being held in torsion, by disconnecting one of the links. The most likely cause however, is an accumulator that is low on pressure. |
