deacceleration noise? w115

Hey guys first time poster here!

i bought a 500 dollar 1969 mercedes diesel with a 4 speed manual!(runs great minor blowby but shes a TOTAL rustbucket! :D) a year ago and i've been driving daily woo!

i've been hearing a deceleration noise coming from the rear.. it was intermittent before.. But it's every time i slowdown or brake.. if i aggressively downshift its quite a howl! .. My flexdisc looks ok no clunking or roughness.. Dif is full of fluid..

Not sure what to check next..

Change diff fluid. Tell us what comes out. Also have a look at your exhaust system. Could you tell us a bit more about what this noise sounds like?

About three months into owning it i checked the rear dif No metal Almost looked like the PO just changed it though. Had synthetic in it i drained and filled it with lucas synthetic ( Not sure the weight off the top of my head but i checked the forums before i did it) Sounds very much like a medium pitched whine " wwrrrrraaaaaaa".. Exhaust is all brand new stainless
