1994 E 320 Drivers Windows Noise HELP Please
Just noticed when lowering/raising window just when it it at the top it makes a popping sound as if the bracket holding the glass in place is loose. Is there an easy way to fix this? How do I pop the door cover off to check? Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

Look in D.I.Y. for door check strap replacement. It explains the removal process for the door panel. You will probably find you need to replace the window regulator. I suspect that popping noise is the pinion gear turning on the "rack" gear of the regulator.

It happenned to me!
The last few teeth of your window regulator are gone. Change it as soon as possible or your window motor will go as well. It is a DIY'er job if you are mechanically inclined.
Good luck! |
Window regulator replacement
Thank you Engatwork and J.Hidalgo for your quick responses! The responses are sincerely appreciated. Curious if its a part that's usually in stock at MB and an approximate cost to purchase...??

Regulator and Installation
<J.HIDALGO> I guess I was in a rush and found the part in the local MB for $118. Local foreign shop quoted from 100-150 to install in less than 2 hours. I needed it fixed before THU this week getting it repaired in morning. Just checked FastLane's price. Excellent price and I wish I had the time...will be ordering from them next time...I know there will be more to fix....Thanks again!

Regulator repaired
Thanks to all for your expert diagnosis. I had the window regulator repaired this morning. You guys were right on the mark. There were about 3 teeth chewed up on the old regulator. It took about 2.5 hours to repair at a cost of $130. Total cost was $248. You guys are GREAT!
