1998 E430 Rear Brakes

Question:

Does the pin push in from the outside to the inside or do I pull it out with a pair of pliers ?

I see two bolts do I take the out the two larger ones that is near the axle or the two smaller ones that are near the top of the caliper ?

Thanks

The pin pushes toward the middle of the car on all mine. Once the pins are out you can change the pads. Have new sensors on hand, the old ones may come apart on you. If they come apart make sure you get all the pieces out.

You do not have to take the caliper off to replace the pads but it does have to come off to remove/replace the rotor. Remove the bolts that are holding the caliper on. Make sure you put removable Locktite on the caliper bolts during reassembly.
They get easier the more you do - good luck.

Thanks, engatwork.
I was outside taking the pads out while you were replying... I only have one sensor on the Passenger side of the car. hummm... The brake pad light still comes after I swapped the pads.. The front must need to be replaced. This is the first time that I have replaced the rear pads (65k) miles it was really easy..
I know that the rotors need replacing because I have the ridges on the edge, I want get the cross drilled ones.....

Thanks

Before you just up and change the rotors at least measure how thick they are. If they are within spec (min thickness should be stamped on the rotor) then leave them alone but get a new measurement everytime you rotate the tires. Now would be a good time to replace the brake fluid too.
