E280 AT Elegance Flashing Immobiliser Lights
Good Day
Would appreciate some advice. My 1996 E280 AT Elegance was parked one night after returning home from work in running order. Next morning would not start. Car unlocks and locks, but once the ignition is switched on, the Immobiliser lights in the mirror and door handle begin flashing alternatively. Have been advised MB Agency that Immobiliser unit needs replacing. Thanks John |

Would not crank or would crank but not run?
96 should still have a immo that works with the remotes but does not have a chip in the key. For for these, there is a relay that opens the starter cranking wire. I think the relay is in the console by the shifter. For these I'm near 100% sure if you jump the relay the car will crank and run from the key. 97 has DAS X where a chip in the key, a chip reader box and the engine computer all communicate to allow the car to run. ( it will however crank ) |
