I can't remember!

About five years ago I had this same problem and I fixed it! Now, the problem has resurfaced and I can't for the life of me remember how it was fixed the last time.

1991 300TE wagon, 250,000+ miles runs and looks great!

All of a sudden idle stays at 1000 rpms or above after startup.

No check engine lights are on... all vacuum connections have been checked...

The only thing that brings down the idle is if I press on the microswitch that is part of the accelerator linkage.

It was the rectangular plastic piece that holds the cable to the throttle linkage that disintegrated and started this whole episode. That piece was replaced and now the idle speed will not come down to the 800 rpms that it's supposed to.

I know I had this problem before and it went away. But I can't remember how I did it. I do know I had help from this fine forum so once again...HELP!

Thanking you in advance.

Happy Holidays!
