W126 Intermittent Wiper Strange Behavior
 

Hi All,

I have a 1991 420SEL. I have had issues with the intermittent wipers from time to time that I have resolved by touching up the solder joints and cleaning up the contacts on the internal relays as well as the external pins. I have two relays and they are now both behaving the same way (they both could be bad).

I have not had to use the wipers much in the last few years in the California drought. The wipers work fine on low and high but on intermittent, they park on the other side of the windshield mid stroke. After a few seconds they return and park normally. If I leave them on they repeat this over and over as though they are designed to operate this way. I can hear the relay working.

Has anyone seen this before?
