M104 oil to air cooler- Was this in the US?
I am wanting to put an oil cooler on my M103 and know that the oil filter housings from a m104 *should* fit. I know some of the cars had oil coolers behind the bumper but haven't had any luck finding exactly which ones. Any clues?

The only coolers I've seen on a 104 are the oil to water coolers integrated into the oil filter housing on the early versions. I know I've seen 60X cars with an oil to air cooler under the bumper but I couldn't recite the models off the top of my head.

I have not seen them in US cars, the oil coolers seen in the USA spec cars were on W210 E300 turbodiesel.
there was an oil cooler kit for the transmission sold as an option for W124 sedans and wagons - it fit behind the bumper, had its own fan and a nicely formed air duct and 100C thermoswitch to start the fan. |
the 60x turbodiesels did, but I doubt the oil filter housings will fit.

From what I can gather on the EPC, the lines for the optional cooler just screwed into the the oil filter housing itself. Only guess is 1041806310 as being the correct housing but wouldn't totally make sense as the EPC says that is an AMG part.
What I'll probably do is just buy a sandwich adapter with a built in thermostat for my oil cooler set up. |
Also another question, is the M104 intake compatible with the M103. I am wanting to megasquirt my engine here at some point as well.

No, the M103 has 2 valves per cylinder, the M104 has 4.
There is a sort of M103 / M104 with a 24 Valve head called 3.0 - 24 . The intake is also different than the regular M104. This was found in early 90's 300 SL and 300 CE |
Nevermind, what I was thinking of is M119
