Hi all

I am installing my intake manifold on a 1978 Mercedes 450 SLC. Any know know the size length if the different bolts
There are 16 bolts. Excluding the 4 which holds the underside submarine.

This link might give you the part numbers

1982 Mercedes 450 SL Convertible INTAKE MANIFOLD

Which if you then bang into google might come out with the length. I'd expect M8 coarse thread - but don't forget shank length is sometimes an important factor (so you don't grind threads into aluminium alloy). If you can afford the correct bolts from the dealership I'd choose those...

It sounds like the intake was removed and the bolts mixed up.

Sort the bolts for length and take a look at the intake casting thickness at the bolt holes. With the manifold off the car, place long bolts through the thick holes. When all the bolts are dropped in, look for an even amount of threads sticking out of the manifold, shuffle bolts as needed.

On the cylinder heads, measure the depth of the threads and make sure that is larger than the bolts sticking through the intake. Measure all of the holes as I've seen some cars use a short bolt because there isn't enough room for threads.
