Flashing recirculation switch light
My recirculation switch light is coming on and flashing intermittently on my 1989 300 SE. When this occurs the blower stops and very hot air comes out. The only way to get this to stop is to shut the car off and restart. This happens whether or not the climate control system is on or off. Help please!!

Flashing Recirculation Switch Light
I had that happen once on my 88 300E, but as tkamiya said in his post I shut the car off and restarted it to clear the condition. It has never come back. I am currently having several climate control problems that I believe are related to bad solder joints in the CCM (climate control module).
I think that the flashing recirculate LED may also be related to this condition. I intend to remove it and resolder it soon in hopes that it will fix all of the gremlins. these gremlins are: no heat at the footwell vents (until I hit a bump) slow response to changes in the temp setting. AC only, after the car sits in the sun and the interior is hotter than outside to get heat I need to move the temp wheel to full hot then back to a normal temp. All of these symptoms seem to be due to poor connection between the switches, temp control wheel and the CCM. |
The "flashing" lamp means that the system is in a fixed operational mode. ie: there is a fault in the electrical part of the A/C/C control inputs.

I am having the same problem on my 90 300e. The climate control unit shuts down, the recirc light flashes, and hot air comes out of the vents. In addition, I have also experienced the ABS light coming on at the same time and the car seems to run very poorly when this occurs. I have changed the Voltage Regulator, and the overvoltage relay(twice). Does anyone have any suggestions, I'm not sure where to look now. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I know this is an old post, but I have a similar issue.
CCU flickers on/off and the recirc light quickly blinks once. From my other post you will see that I am very frustrated. This is for a 97 W210. Any thoughts on what it means, there are no fault codes on the unit. |
lashing Recirc Light
About a month after the original post (2002) I resoldered my climate control unit and did not have any further problems until this week. It is now failing to open some of the dampers until it has been operation for a few minutes and during the first few minutes it has a random clicks as though a relay is trying to pick but drops out. Once the clicking stops the system seems to work as designed. I will be removing it again to check to see if resoldering it again will be another cheap fix.
