"City Lights for my SLK32
My SLK32 has the HID headlights and I noticed that each headlight unit has an unused socket for a lamp. I believe this lamp is commonly used in the EU as a "city light", and is turned on when the main lamps are turned off to be less annoying in city driving. I'd like to make use of this feature as a daytime running light. These unused sockets are wired but when I plug in a lamp, it doesn't turn on. I don't find a fuse for this either. The socket accepts a miniature wedge base lamp.
Anyone know what's required to make these lambs work? Thanks |

R, within the fuse compartment(s) should be a fuse map showing the position of each fuse
and what they appliance they control. If the fuse is verified (not just looking at it) as functional, then check for voltage when the light switch is turned on. If no voltage, then I suspect something more annoying has occurred. I wonder if this is why the bulb was removed as it is unusual to find an empty socket. If you're unsure where your fuse compartments are (you should have two of them) go to MBUSA and download your manual. They're prob in engine compartment as well as at the left END of the instrument panel (open driver's door to view)
