Light for shift gate
I don't drive my car much at night, but the other night I did, and noticed that there is no light illuminating my shift gate, and now I can't remember if there ever was a light there before.
Is this supposed to light up? If so, what is the easiest way to get at the bulb? I have a 1993 124 300E (3.2 M104) thanks in advance. |
You mean you can't see which gear you're currently in at night?
If so, I've already asked the same thing about my car....never was there to begin with. Seems kinda silly to me to NOT have one there. |
My 79 300SD has one...seems like a newer car would have one also.
Mine was burned out when I got the car, but it was not too hard to replace...I took off the wood trim around the shifter, and the socket for the bulb was in the side of the "frame" around the shifter. I would think that it's similar for other models. Mike |
my 500 had one too

All 300E have a light in the shifter indicator (I assume you have an automatic tranny)
Console has to be remove to replace this light JackD |
weird...I'll have to pull mine up again and check. Would be nice if it was just a burned out bulb.
