W201 Evaporator Drain?

Hi All,

I was driving my 93 190E around last night and felt a few drips of water on my feet. It hasn't rained in a few days but it has been hot so I've been running the A/C pretty much non-stop.

I peeled back the floor mat and there was a good amount of water under it.

I am thinking that the evap drain tube(s) are clogged or broken.

I couldn't seem to find any pictures of where they are on the 201.. I know where they are on W126 and the problems the 126 has with the foam crap.

Can anyone tell me where I might access the drains to check/clear them? A picture would be awesome too.

Thanks!

I was just looking into this the other day because it just struck me that I've never seen much AC drainage under the car even though I've been blasting the air in this heat. I had a Lexus IS with a leaking AC box that was not cheap to get fixed.

From what I've gathered, the lines are under the cowl and drain out above the transmission bell housing. They're designed to pour onto the trans and the water evaporates instead of pouring onto the road.

If you remove the leaf cowl and wiper blade and the front blower motor cover, the drain tubes are behind that on the left and right. I have been running my ac too and I never see any water on the ground except for if I jack up the rear of the car and then some will fall to the ground. Moisture in the foot well could be a sign of a cracked or leaking heater core unfortunately, or maybe just the o rings to the heater core pipes. Another way moisture can get to the foot well is through an opening by the pedals if the grommet is torn......but you'd actually have to have some moisture like rain or a recent car/engine wash for that to happen which you have already stated that it wasn't raining.

Interesting. It was dripping on my ankle this morning. It was definitely not hot. It was pretty cold.

It hasnt rained here in a few days.

I also have noticed less air volume coming from the vents.

I would bet that whole area needs to be cleaned. A few years ago I took out all of that and found a nice collection of random **** covering the evaporator, nearly cut off all my air flow.

Bet thats going on again.
