M103 head gasket, revisited

What is the best head gasket on the market currently for the M103.983?

I did a Victor Reinz around 40k ago and it is leaking profusely from the pressure gallery by the number five exhaust port.

All I am seeing are VR, Elring, and OE. I will spend extra for OE if needed.

Thanks for any input

I've al alway used oe gaskets. Too big of a job to cut corners. I've never had an issue after

Personally I would go with OE since you have bad experience with the aftermarket ones..

But to save money..

I ordered an OEM gasket (1030162120, apparently by Elring...the factory installed on mine I pulled years ago was a Goetze) and an aftermarket Elring. Once both here, I can compare to see what, if any differences there are between them.

BMW's Elring for the M30 is slightly beefier than the aftermarket Elring. Odd I know.

Also ordered OE timing cover sealant.

That, apparently, is also the case with TRW lower control arms for the W124. The MB ones are made by TRW but to a totally different spec. to the direct-from-TRW ones.

I can't verify this as I bought some MB ones and they look very similar to the Lemfoerder tie rods I bought.

After hearing about the horrors of M103 / M102 gasket failures due to corrosion I have been using Hylomar as a gasket dressing
