s500 very low in rear
 

Last week rear hydro-pneu shocks start leaking on my '95 s500. I did replace them (not the accumulators)at local repair shop (not a benz pro) but I did not get self leveling.mechanic said it will go up after i drive for a mile or two. Ride is rough, still low in rear and bouncy.Actualy bouncy was even befor I replaced hydro shocks. Anyone can help me on this.Is there anything so I can agjuste the height in rear or there is some problem in suspension system.

Check the nitro cells.
If you have a rough ride, this is probably the cause.

where nitro cells are(part # and price if you know please)and how much do you think it would be at MB to repair it

The PartShop has them for $84.67 USD each according to my Fastlane search. From the description of your problem your struts were probably not the real problem. These accumulators tend to be the more common problem with that system. I have had two Mercedes with self-leveling rear suspension systems, and have had to replace these accumulators on each one for similar problems. I am not sure about your model, but on my '93 500SEL one of them is pretty close to the exhaust pipe run and you may need to drop it down to change that one side. Others may know more about that for your model. Hope this helps.

The nitro cells are in the rear, if you go under your car from the back you should see it. It looks like the things inside your toliet bowl. You need to I have enclosed a pic of it. It is # 140 on the lower right hand diagram. To view picture go to this site >>>

Those shots look like they are right off the MB dealer's parts computer. Look exactly like the screen I see when the parts counter guys let me behind the counter to look for obscure stuff on the 4.5. Perhaps a computerized micro fiche.

I have a Electronic Parts Catalog on my system, that basically what the dealer has. Yeah I have all models that mercedes makes upto the new SL Models. What part are you looking for in your 126?

Not really looking for anything at the moment, but it would be much easier to cross-reference the obscure stuff (most recently the adjusting nut and bolt for my air pump) with those diagrams than with for example the Alldata parts explosion. Phil at FastLane uses the same drawings and they are great. If they reference the MB part number it would speed up PartsShop searches. I'll keep you in mind for next time. Thanks.

Do a search on nitrogen spheres on this forum and go to jere(about to expire). s500 94 rear suspension. It has the best description on replacing the spheres. They are an integral part of the suspension coupled with the rear shocks. Those shocks are 500 bucks a piece. I don't think you can use the non-self adjusting shocks on the car, but I could be wrong. It's the accumulators coupled with the shocks that level the car. I've been told the the springs alone can not hold up the car without the accumulators working.

How did you close off the valves that normally go into the rear shocks?
