Waste gate

When I apply vacuum to the waist gate it doesn't hold vacuum. I believe the diaphragm is bad. I cannot find information on rebuilding it or where to find replacement for the diaphragm or the entire Unit. The vsv was unplugged and seized but I was able to get it apart and repair it. I'm new to this forum and to mercedes ownership. I have several Factory service manuals but found nothing specific yet.

depends on what year you're working on. earlier turbo waste gates worked on pressure later one worked on vacuum.

The turbo works but still seems sluggish. My friend owns a German auto shop, he is going to look at the entire car today. I have never owned a diesel or a turbo but I will quickly learn the basics.

It does seem to be pressure operated. Either way though it leaks. It doesn't hold vacuum or pressure. When letting off the throttle you can hear the waist gate open now but it stays open for a long time. Seems wrong

Well the car passed inspection with flying colors. The turbo works and he said it will probably boost a little more because the waste gate is slow to open. Everything else on the care looks great. No rust, nothing broken except the ac, a few interior trim type things and the driver lock handle. Pretty good car I guess. I ran the recommended fuel system cleaner through and it made a huge difference. 167000 mi
