Karlyn-STI plugs with Bosch plugs compatibility issues
I recently purchased a set of Karlyn-STI #112 spark plug wires (Part #: 003-159-12-03-M14) and Bosch WR-7-DC+ spark plugs from Pelican Parts and the spark plug and wires don't fit together. The hole that the spark plug would "clip" into inside the spark plug wire boot is too small. What are my other options given that Pelican Parts doesn't have any other plugs or wires for my 1966 Mercedes 250s. I called Pelican and they gladly offered a refund but that still leaves me up s**** creek without a paddle.
Does anyone have another suggestion? I'm guessing these spark plug wires might be for the 1968-1972 250s? |
So I got a response from Karlyn/STI about the compatibility issues and apparently you need to remove/unscrew the terminal on top of the spark plug in order to use these wires.
Now while installing them, two of the wires snapped clean at the plug during removal. I'm surprised that these ripped so easy given that I've been told these are of higher quality. Does anyone else have any experience with the Karlyn/STI brand? I'm giving the wires another chance because the customer service from both Karlyn and Pelican Parts has been exceptional. That and I don't have much options of quality wires for the w108 250s. |
I hate Karlyn wires, they suck.A ebay seller told me they were Bosch. I will buy a bosch set for sure next time.

Try Kingsborne - </title> <meta name="robots" content="index, follow" /> <meta name="GOOGLEBOT" content="INDEX, FOLLOW" /> <link rel="canonical" href="http://www.kingsbornewires.com" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/ They have wire sets for my factory turbo E23 BMWs that are grey market only. Also, if you do not like the Bosch plug, simply find a cross reference chart and go with an alternate brand. Unscrewing the top terminal to use plugs is pretty common. |

looks like you have the wrong plugs the r in wr7dc+ is for resistor and the plug wires have the resistor so you should be using non resistor plugs.
There are many places that sell the correct part for your vehicle i suggest using one of them next time |

I believe you can also use wires from a small block chevy for your purpose, you can buy them in many varieties too.

Went ahead and order some NGK BP6ES. Waiting on new wires to come in. Hopefully with the Crane ignition and new Webers hopefully she starts right up!
