DashCommand (or other OBDII app) with Mercedes
 

Has anyone successfully used DashCommand with a WiFi ELM327 device (dongle) and an iPhone? I mean to read parameters other than just trouble codes. Parameters such as engine temp, RPM's, fuel trims, etc.

I bought a ELM327 WiFi device and DashCommand but it will connect to the dongle but won't read any parameters (PID's). Just trying to find an app that works. DashCommand is supposed to be the best but doesn't seem to work at all.

Mine is Bluetooth, not WiFi! (Your phone needs to see it.)

iPhone requires Wifi not Bluetooth for the ELM327.

I tried OBD Car Doctor: Would not connect, ever

I tried DashCommand: It connects but will not read any gauges or sensors

I tried OBD Auto Doctor Pro: Connects fast. Reads most sensors. Would read fuel trims in my Mercedes, but would only read short term fuel trims in the BMW I was working on. Would not read long term. Also it could not reset the CEL.

If you know someone with an Android phone, might want to try various apps on that and see if it works.

You may be able to use a used Android phone in "airplane mode" as your "PC" for the ELM327. It will work just fine if you have a Wi-Fi internet connection for it. Can download apps from Google Play, etc.

I'm using a used Android phone for my new "CD Stereo". I have over 200 CD's on its SD card and use a wire plugged into the headphone jack which connects to my stereo amp with R/L RCA connections. Also internet radio. Bought it for $20 on Ebay and just never had it connected to the cell phone company.

Just be careful about what version of Android the working app needs.

So you can use Android and keep your iPhone too!
