Are W124 facelift tail lamps really NLA?

I recently tried ordering a set of new '94-'95 style tail lamp assemblies from Pelican (p/n 124-820-87-64 & 124-820-88-64) and received a message cancelling my order because the parts are NLA. This is a total bummer! And frankly, it seems like a crazy part to be NLA - it would seem like something that Mercedes-Benz would keep in production as part of their collision catalog.

Anyway, I'm currently running a set of use assemblies that I picked up off of eBay, but I'm not really happy with the faded look of the plastic, and doubt the integrity of the rubber that seal the units to the sheet metal. I'd really love brand new, unused units - anyone know of a source for OE assemblies, or even a decent OEM copy? They've got to be available from somewhere - right?

Any chance the part numbers I posted above were superseded by current part numbers?

As always, TIA.

It gets very expensive to store 20 year old parts that might sell once or twice a year. The classic center keeps stuff but the prices are adjusted accordingly to cover storage. And, how many should be made and kept in stock?

Have a look on car-part.com this is a nation wide search of participating salvage yards.

Also, I wonder if a thin coating of tinted clear coat would brighten them up.
