ML 350 WONT GO INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE 2006
 

My ML 350 2006 wont go into reverse or drive ..it makes the noise like it wants to ...but won't then after sitting over night battery is dead ..shows esp code and bas and the triangle ..Any ideas helpful :mad:

Michelle is your car fitted with 722-6 gear box? As you have zero answers i would go to youtube and put in Mercedes ml 350 stuck shifter mechanism.

Lots on there about this problem .And it has a re program re set on the auto box also that you can try .

It has the 722.9 transmission. It also has an ISM, which actually shifts the transmission as there is no traditional shifter in the cabin. It sounds like an ISM problem, but there is a wide range of failures that can cause similar symptoms. This isn't something you're going to diagnose and fix over the internet. Even if you can determine that the ISM is the problem, it is a theft relevant part. That means you'll have to jump through hoops to even order it and it will have to be programmed over the MB servers and married to the car before it will even function. Your best bet is to take it to a highly qualified Mercedes shop, or barring no other option, the dealer for a competent diagnosis. It is quite likely going to be an expensive repair and guessing will only add to that total.

Use MB dedicated scanner to clear all codes first. Seems tcm code/s default to no engagement of transmission. Not saying this is a fix but one test to try.

Also check the loom from transmission to tcm for heat melting the wire insulation.
