I need to replace the instrument lights and fix the rheostat on my '79 300D. The book says to simply pull the cluster out, using (fingers!)or a "dash tool". My question is; does the cluster really just kind of lay in there, without fastners? Can I really just "pull it out" by jambing something between the cluster and the upholstered housing? As for the rheostat, is it easily removable/replaceable from this position, and are the lights behind the cluster or in those little "drop down" things at the top of the cluster?
Thanks again for your excellent site. Joe |
