400SE engine oil level

The 400SE owners manual specifies 8.5 (US) quarts for a complete engine oil change. When I drain the engine completely and fill it with exactly 8.5 quarts, the oil level is 2/3 the way up between the Min and Max marks. The question is should I leave everything alone, or should I add oil to the Max mark?

I have re-checked the oil level after running the engine and warming it up. The dipstick is the correct one for the engine.

Thanks

I would leave it alone. It seems that some Mercedes seem to "prefer" having the level between the two lines. I.E. consumption is a little higher when the engine is one the max line.

Ali is correct-the factory specified oil level is to be between the marks (and the difference between the makrs represents about 2 quarts)

I think you're fine:)
