Hey Canadian 300e owners...
 

Hey Neighbors,
I live in California and travel to Western Canada as often as I can. I love it up there. Anyway, I read somewhere (and now I can't find this source) that the Canadian version of the 300e came with a built in child seat. I'm assuming it was a fold down thing from the standard back seat. Is this true? Do your cars have a built in childs seats because my US version does not? If so, I think I'll have MB in Vancouver hook me up with one this summer. (that is unless you tell me that you don't like them for whatever reason) If not, why do I think that they are required? Am I crazy? Also, I seem to remember that there are different bumpers...

No built in seat in Canada. Tether anchor points from 1988-

Canadian cars are a little different. We, of course have our instruments in metric. Since 1990 we have Daytime Running Lights. We also never lost the "5 mph" bumper regs (8 km/h in Canada).

As to child safety, we have required tethers for forward facing toddler seats since 1988.

We also on occasion get cars you don't. The 190E 2.3 came in more versions, and was never discontinued in Canada until replaced by the C-Class. We get more C-Class variants, an extra ML version, and the S430SWB that you don't get.

Forgive me but, what are Tether anchor points? sounds curious...

Canadian spec child car seats have a "tether strap" which is like a seat belt with a steel hook. It attaches to the back of the car seat, and then hooks through the anchor point.

Then, you pull the strap tight. This provides additional stregth over the car's seat belt. Most of the world has tether straps as mandatory.

The anchor point varies from car to car, but in MB sedans it is in the parcel shelf, and through the steel of the rear bulk head.

What are the specs on a canadian model 300E? (w124)

So you guys get Euro lights, Daytime running lights, duel temperature for driver and passenger? Km/h of course, Did you all get the euro light leveling thing?

Fabric upholstery and anything else? Does anyone know if American models had the option of heated seats or was that an everywhere else but U.S.A. type thing? -_____- Did Canadian models also receive the hazard triangle in the trunk? Am I missing anything?

We don't get Euro lights standard on a 300E. Daytime running lights will probably only apply to 1990 models forward. The upholstery in mine was leather. No hazard triangle in the trunk.

I think we basically get the same 300E's you guys do other than -

- instrument cluster has both Km/h and mph (Km/h more prominent)
- child seat anchors
- heated seats common
- different bumper regulations
- daytime running lights on newer models (1990 forward as per blackmercedes' post)

That's really about it. We don't get all the nice Euro options either. :(
