300SDL . aftermarket monovalve again

My original monovalve quit and I bought a replacement ...cheap aftermarket.

It seemed to work for 10 minutes and (heat came on and off) and now no heat...
No heat under no circumstance means the aftermarket monovalve is in closed position and won't open?

Is this a correct assumption?

I always thought when the monovalve is not plugged in then there is heat all the time?

If this is true then there would be power on all the time if the heat is not working...?

Does that mean that the CCU (dial in the middle dash) is not working as an option?

If you say it is clearly the aftermarket monovalve failing ... then I'll bite the bullet and buy the MB part.

No hot air even with the monovalve unplugged would indicate the monovalve is jammed closed. That might be a valuable option in warm climates :)

MB is selling monovalve cartridges again which might be the way to go if you can resurrect the OE monovalve.

I purchased and installed a new stop valve in my '81 300SD a year ago. Two months ago it stopped working. Was made in India. Replaced it with one taken from a MB in a junkyard. Working fine since then.

So I am put off with buying the cheap India-China imitations. Of course there is a limit to how much more I will pay for OEM but I have not reached that limit yet.

Hi Sixto,

yes indeed, you are right.... if it is LIFTING MAGNET - MERCEDES-BENZ (000-835-06-44) , it is available for $50, not too crazy.

I have now 2 of the after market junk monovalve. I might throw them in the trash... if it is true that the Mercedes parts works.

Hi Robby,

I read too late that you are rebuilding the monovalves... I bought a new Monovalve from MB. The new part works well, the heat is on again!
Any aftermarket monovalves that are not functional should be banned.

If the problem comes again I 'll have the MB part rebuilt.
