1984 280e oil in bottom of in intake

my benz has 120k miles. car sat for many years. thought the engine was seized so I was going to part it out. well I got home and it turned over. with some work I got it running .
it burns oil. at first it was a lot of oil but has lessened signifactly
its either the valve stem seals as every piece of rubber is bad on the car and it looks like every seal on engine is leaking.
or its what ever is at the bottom of the intake that is toward the front of the engine. to get a good look down in there you have to pull the fuel assembly off.
is there pvc system of some sort besides what you see on the valve cover that its sucking up oil and burning it that way.
the valves do need to be adjusted but I will not adjust them until I find out why its burning oil.
im stumped on this one.
