I have a 1987 300E (149,300) with a gas leak
that I have targeted to be under the passenger side rear seat. I noticed the leak mainly when the car was running, and soon after stopping. The leak drips about every second while the car is running but soon stops dripping when the car is shut off. This leads me to believe that a gas line of some sort has deteriorated and the tank is not bad. Please let me know if I am right and what line it may be so I will be properly informed when I go to my dealer to get this fixed.
Thanks
Chris Sears

The 300E has the fuel pump "package" under the right rear seat area. Sounds like this is where the fuel is comming from, Don't WAIT! This can be a deadly problem.

If the fuel filter has been recently replaced then one of the copper crush seals is probably at fault. HAVE IT REPAIRED IMMEDATELY!!!
