Spring length for W124 E420

I am looking for the free length of the front springs for the E420, with the blue dot.

P/N: 124 321 39 04

I have searched high and low, called several MB dealers and spoke to techs, trying to find any information one how long the springs actually are. All research has turned up zilch, except that they are still available for purchase.

I suspect that my car has had some coils cut off the stock springs and am looking to see how much ride high would change if switched to the new springs.

If anyone happens to have measurements, or would be willing to even measure the ones installed in their car, it would be appreciated.

The original springs are selective and the dealer will want your VIN for that. There are a few options like sunroof etc that dictate what spring and spring pad is used.

Or.....you could just count the number of coils on your car and use Google to look at springs for similar models and count the number of coils there. Probably won't be 100% accurate in telling you the length, but it will definitely give you a ball park of how many coils were cut if any from your car.

or.....look for matching springs on Ebay and send the seller a question regarding the length

I come up with this 14-15 thick [ may be diameter] and length is 339
Amd number is 124 324 12 04 . With blue spot .

Must have your engine type to find out this really..
I know its a W124 but dont know the engine = Mine is a W124 M103 - engine. Any how just go and do a google search its quicker .

This a little round about but hear me out. In an effort to make my m104 w124 handle better I put late e420 124 springs in it. Relaxed length was approximately that of the stock springs. I then shoved a 1 nub pad in there to get it to sit where I wanted it. It seems they are just a thicker wire diameter with fewer coils. I no longer have the car and cannot measure it.

I haven't looked but w124 performance may have a pdf on this. I know they have swaybar data.

Also you can tell a cut spring from stock by the way the end is formed. Stock were clearly sheared off with some monster cutter while hot and people normally use a cutoff wheel to do it at home.
