Transmission model number
 

I did a VIN decoder and the transmission came up as:

722358 03 412178

Does this mean it is a 722.3 transmission model number?

I thought it was stamped on a metal plate under the hood, in the front by the radiator. But I don't see 722358 03 412178 anywhere on the metal plate.

This is for my 1991 300E W124, gas fueled.
(Am researching some solutions for my tranny problem, but need to know correct transmission number.)

Yes, it is a 722.3, specifically a 722.358.
The number is stamped into the right-side transmission pan rail, just above the case-to-pan joint.
