W126 Ball Joint Tool / Press

Has anyone SUCCESSFULLY used the AutoZone ball joint press to press in W126 lower ball joints? Any other tricks or set ups to properly press them in? I've got the steering knuckles out of the car, and the old ball joints are out.

Does anyone have a W126 ball joint tool for loan or rent? I live in Western Wisconsin near Mpls/St. Paul.

Thanks

I'm fairly certain the w126 balljoint setup is exactly the same as the w123, correct? If so, the balljoint tool will NOT work out of the box.
I had to modify one of the press tools to do the job on my w123, afterwards it worked just fine.
I own the tool, so I didn't have to go explain to autozone why I went and cut their tool up... I like owning tools vs. renting them because it's more convenient, especially when they have to be modified to get a job done.

Hey Chrisgt,
Thanks for the heads up on the necessary tool modification. I took your advice and found a tool for sale on craigslist, specific to W126 / W123 ball joint. $85 shipped to me, and I don't have to worry about getting the modification right.
I appreciate your ideas.
Thanks!
